There are any number of ways of trying to raise money locally: On the whole this boils down to:
Funding in the form of grants is available from many sources and these change on a regular basis. To use your time most effectively it is worth spending time researching who has grant money available in your area and targeting your applications accordingly. Just bear in mind that they have to earn their living out of it - but it could raise you money when you have not got the time or considerable energy required.
Some will fund the whole project - some will require "matched funds", some will fund the development stage and some will fund only a final costed design.

Who they award grants to: Tesco Charity Trust fund projects which support children & their educational welfare as well as children with disabilities.
Amount of funding they offer:The Gannett Foundation (Newsquest Media Group) offer grants of between £1,000 and £5,000 however they may consider larger grants.
Who they award grants to:The Gannett Foundation awards money to projects which they consider to take creative action to fundamental issues which include education.
